Game of Thrones is one of the most popular television series and has already broken many records. The popularity of the show is increasing every year and now we have a university that is offering a course on Game of Thrones! What can be better than going to the university and learning more about your favourite TV series.
The University of Berkeley is offering a film studies class based on HBO's Game of Thrones. The course is taught by Justin Vaccaro who is a Berkeley Ph.D. candidate in film and media studies. It took him almost 4 years to get approval for the course. The class also requires a reading list, which includes Rousseau and Foucault. Berkeley News has given details about the course and what we can expect to learn from it.
"His class looks at why the show, ostensibly about the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, is so popular – beyond its stunning special effects, over-the-top sex and violence, killing off every major character, and setting its scenes in exotic locales in Iceland, Ireland, Croatia, Spain and Morocco."
UC Berkeley's course is turning out to be very popular and the class has 27 students which is a record for any of the summer classes that Vaccaro has taught since 2011.
