Game of Thrones show creators say they never set out to offend anyone

Game of Thrones had a wonderful time at the 2015 Emmy Awards. They broke the record for winning most Emmys in a year. They also created Emmy history by becoming the first fantasy series to win the Best Drama award. The Game of Thrones creators talked about the wins and about the show with Entertainment Weekly after the Emmy Awards ceremony got over.

David Benioff and Dan Weiss have worked hard for the series and they were happy to see that finally the show had won the long elusive award. This is what Benioff had to say about the entire experience:

Dan [Weiss] and I have been [working on the show] eight years now, back to that first meeting with George [R.R. Martin] at The Palm right by here on Santa Monica Blvd. To have George sitting right in front of us, to have it happen on his birthday, to break the record for most Emmys … the whole night’s been surreal and so much more than we expected or could have hoped for. It’s just really, really fun.

The 5th season was controversial with many fans getting angry after watching Sansa's wedding scene. Also the scene with Shireen shocked many people and D.B. Weiss even defended the scene after people complained about the scene. Benioff spoke about the controversial scenes in the 5th season while talking with Entertainment Weekly

We never set out to offend anyone. To try to offend anyone would be juvenile, but to be afraid to offend people would be cowardly. There were people saying they were never going to watch again. We’re just trying to tell the story the best we can. This means a lot, it’s a very nice feeling.
