The terrible Game of Thrones scene from the Dance of Dragons episode was George RR Martin's idea

After watching the latest Game of Thrones episode, The Dance of Dragons, people are upset and it's not hard to imagine why. In the episode, Stannis Baratheon gave in to the demands of the red priestess, Melisandre and finally agreed to burn his daughter in order to make the Red god happy. This has not gone down well with people who are now so angry that some of them are now supporting Ramsay Bolton against Stannis and that tells a lot about how pissed people are.

People are comparing the episode with how the story moves ahead in the book where Stannis refuses to burn anyone to please the Lord of Light and instead asks people to pray harder. The show creators were being blamed for the terrible scene but it turns out that we were wrong! In a video about the making of the episode, David Benioff revealed that it was George RR Martin who came up with the idea. This is what he said:

"When George first told us about this, it was one of those moments I remember looking at Dan and it was just like that is so horrible, and so good in a story sense because it all comes together. It’s one of the most horrible moments we’ve shot, just in terms of the emotion of it."

Now this is an interesting and important thing because this might mean that this event might happen in the books at some point of time as it was George who came up with the idea. All we can do is wait for The Winds of Winter to come out so that we can be certain if its true or not.
