George RR Martin is tired of Marvel villains

George RR Martin is no stranger to creating strong and menacing bad guys considering the ones that he has created in his book series. However he has issues with the villains that he sees in Marvel movies. George RR Martin who is a self confessed Marvel fanboy has written a review of the Ant-Man in his blog. While the review is favorable, he doesn't have words of praise for the villains that have been featured in Marvel movies.

I am tired of this Marvel movie trope where the bad guy has the same powers as the hero. The Hulk fought the Abomination, who is just a bad Hulk. Spider-Man fights Venom, who is just a bad Spider-Man. Iron Man fights Ironmonger, a bad Iron Man. Yawn. I want more films where the hero and the villain have wildly different powers. That makes the action much more interesting.

It looks like the Marvel writers can take some tips from George RR Martin for making their villains more powerful and more interesting.
